Since the European Union banned the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in 2006, a number of strategies have been developed to promote intestinal health and achieve good health status for animals and improved animal production levels.
In this regard, highly useful additives have been developed over the last few years, such as hydrolyzed vegetable β-galactomannans (HβGMs). HβGMs primarily act by blocking the fimbriae of enterobacteria, including Salmonella enterica and enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC).
